Signal

Today
‘Signal’ is released, the latest single from Mon Tsunami.
Following the
success of the latest single ‘Imini Pt. II’, which saw support from DJs on BBC Radio, Rinse FM, Voices Radio and more, the duo have collaborated this time with Ayah Tlhanyane, a South African
vocalist known across the industry for his raw, unbelievably tender vocals.
Unlike most
productions, wherein the music is made first and the vocals second, ‘Signal’ took a different path in its production.
Here’s what the
duo had to say:
“Signal is a song
that started with Ayah’s raw vocal stem and nothing else. Our job was to work out the story he was telling and how we should match this musically, so there were many failed attempts; the song
would be finished & mixed, we’d listen on repeat, and eventually say ‘no… it’s not right’.
So back to the
drawing board we’d go to try a new approach, and so on and so forth. Finally, months later, we opened a new project to start again from scratch. The next day the song was finished; we just knew
it. To finally release this today is a great feeling.
Through the
process, we’ve made a great friend in Ayah and we very much look forward to working with him again.”
The duo premiered
the song live last night on Rinse FM, as guests on Tribal Brothers’ show.
‘Signal’ is out
now on all platforms.
Enjoy.
